Sustainable Development
Timber use in construction is on the increase throughout the UK, with Government initiatives encouraging this. Timber’s value as a sustainable, renewable, standard building material is increasingly recognised, as awareness grows of the environmental consequences of development and climate change. This has highlighted the potential for timber construction to contribute greatly to a sustainable, low carbon future.

Achieving Code for Sustainable Homes & Zero Carbon Homes
Introduced in 2007, the Code is a national standard (except Scotland) for the design and construction of new houses. It encourages continuous improvement to, and measurement of, the sustainability of house designs in nine specific categories. These categories address energy consumption/CO² emissions; water usage; materials; surface water run-off; waste; pollution; health and wellbeing; management; and ecology.
Chain of Custody
Oregon is PEFC and FSC Chain of Custody certified.
Customers are seeking evidence of environmentally sound business practices, and proof from timber construction that the wood used comes from sustainably managed sources. A credible mechanism to provide this information - Chain of Custody - is provided by both the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) labelling schemes. Oregon is happy to provide CoC evidence on request.
