Oregon Timber Frame Appoints New MD

5 November 2008

David Maxwell

Oregon Timber Frame Ltd is pleased to announce Mr David Maxwell as its new Managing Director with effect from 1 October 2008

David succeeds Mr John Merry, who spear-headed the company's growth following a management buyout in 1998, helping it to become one of the largest privately-owned timber frame manufacturers in the UK.

Commenting on his appointment, Mr Maxwell said:

"I am delighted to be taking over the reins from John and looking forward to the challenge ahead. John's success in building the business over the past 10 years into one of the most highly respected timber frame manufacturers in the country is a remarkable achievement and a tough act to follow. However, I am fortunate to have inherited a first class team at Oregon and a strong business position, so despite the current market conditions we remain positive and look forward to responding to our clients’ needs over the coming years."

David is a Chartered Engineer, and brings extensive experience of the property sector to his new role, having worked in property development, construction and consultancy. He is a past Chairman of the Institution of Structural Engineers in Scotland and holds a number of non-executive positions in property and construction-related companies.

Despite difficult times in the market, Oregon maintain a strong business position, and is working with new clients and on projects in both the public and private sectors up and down the UK. Sizeable current projects include private sector housing in Lanark, and a £45m affordable housing development on the south coast.

Based in Selkirk in the Scottish Borders, Oregon has the capacity to produce 6000 units per year. It has both FSC and PEFC Chain of Custody certification for timber sourcing from sustainable sources, and in February it achieved registration to quality standard ISO 9001.
